The short version
Reading this site is anonymous. Nothing is stored about you unless you choose to send feedback, and if you do, it is deleted after twelve months.
Who is responsible
Joe Houghton, trading as Houghton Consulting, Lucan, County Dublin, Ireland. For anything on this page, write to joe.houghton@gmail.com.
What is collected, and when
If you just read the page: nothing that identifies you. There are no accounts, no advertising, no third-party scripts and no tracking cookies. The site stores two small preferences in your own browser - whether you chose the light or dark theme, and the email address you last typed into the feedback form - and neither ever leaves your device unless you submit the form.
If you send feedback: the message you write; your email address, only if you supply one; any screenshots you attach; the page you were on; your browser’s user agent string, truncated; and the time you sent it.
To stop the form being abused: a record that a request arrived from your IP address, held only long enough to count requests inside the rate-limit window - hours, not days - and then deleted.
Why
To read your feedback, reply to it if you asked for a reply, and keep the form usable by preventing floods. The lawful basis is legitimate interest: improving a page that is given away free. You are never profiled and nothing is sold.
How long it is kept
Feedback and its screenshots are deleted twelve months after you send them, by a job that runs every night. Rate-limit records are deleted within hours. There is no archive and no backup that outlives either.
Who else can see it
These are the only companies involved, and each one only handles what it must:
- Vercel - hosts the site and stores feedback screenshots. Screenshots are stored privately in Frankfurt and cannot be read from their web address alone.
- Neon - the database holding feedback, in Frankfurt.
- Brevo - sends the email that tells Joe a piece of feedback has arrived.
Your data is held in the European Union. It is not sold, shared or used for advertising.
Screenshots - one thing worth knowing
A screenshot captures whatever was visible in the browser window at that moment. Please glance at the preview before you send it, and remove it if it shows something you would rather not share.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or object to it being held at all. Write to joe.houghton@gmail.com and it will be actioned within thirty days. Because feedback can be sent without an email address, please include enough detail to identify the message you mean.
If you are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland - dataprotection.ie.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes are noted in the site’s change log.
